The London Venue and Catering Awards 2023 are coming, and we’re a finalist! We’re delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in three categories:

Best Conference Venue
Best Venue Customer Service
Best Venue for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

So, not one, not two, but three nominations in the bag for our team of event professionals. This is an amazing achievement! The London Venue and Catering Awards ceremony will take place on Friday 24 November, and we’ll all have our fingers crossed. Here’s why we’ve been nominated:

A versatile conference venue for your events

Very few event venues tick all the boxes like we do. This is what customers can expect from us: central London location, fair pricing, versatile spaces, sustainable ethos, and great customer service.

There are 33 meeting and event spaces to choose from, including the Benjamin Lay Suite, our newest event space. All our spaces have great versatility and the latest AV installed. The Light, our 1,000-seater auditorium is the largest venue in the area and the perfect space for a conference, a convention, a product launch, an AGM, a graduation and more.

Customers who come to us can choose from a variety of carefully crafted and seasonal catering options. Traditional sandwich lunch, bento boxes, hot fork buffets, we always try to shake things up a little bit with great flavours and ideas!

Customer service at heart

We believe that customer service is key to a successful event. That’s why we continuously invest in staff training to reach the highest level of excellence. Our staff are trained via the WorldHost programme, and we are a WorldHost recognised business.

From the booking enquiry to the event taking place, we work around our clients’ requirements and always try to show flexibility.

In 2022, we hosted 2,226 events and welcomed nearly 100,000 delegates, many had come to us for the first time. We must be doing something right!

Doing the work on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI)

We want our London venue to provide a comfortable and safe environment for staff and customers. Everyone should feel respected and valued in their identities, no matter their faith, gender, sexual orientation, class, background, ethnicity, and ability.

We have worked with Accessable to create a detailed accessibility guide. We also do the work on EDI and run ongoing training for staff on race and equality.
We believe that treating staff fairly is key. Therefore, we pay everybody above the London Living Wage and have a 1:4 ratio between the highest and lowest paid staff members. You can find out more on our Pay and Benefits page.

In the words of one of our clients: “My meetings are a lot less stressful when I use Friends House, as they think of everything.” A seamless, stress-free event experience, that’s what you get when you choose Friends House. Wish us luck!
